The Medici Family Tour

Guided tour Signoria Palace

Since 1434, when Cosimo the Elder came into power, until the end of the Medici dynasty in the eighteenth century, the Medici family had left an indelible mark in the political and cultural history of Florence. This tour will help you to discover the powerful Medici family and the monuments built on their request  for the their glory and Florence’s fame .

This private walking tour starts from Palazzo Medici Riccardi, built by the architect Michelozzo and first major residence of the family. The tour continues with the Church of San Lorenzo, the Medici Chapels and Palazzo Vecchio, which became the new royal house in 1540. Following the path running outside of the Vasari Corridor – a private passage which connects Palazzo Vecchio to the Pitti Palace and built at the request of Cosimo I for security reasons – we finally arrive at the Pitti Palace, last residence of the family.

The guided tour can be organized in 3 or 6 hours, according to the museums you want to visit. Entrance fees to museums are not included
