Highlights of Florence and Accademia

guided tour David Michelangelo

We will visit the main sights of the city and the Galleria dell’Accademia to see Michelangelo’s David and other work by the great artist.

This tour is great also for those with limited time and for those doing cruise ship shore excursions.

Starting from Piazza della Repubblica, heart of the ancient roman town “Florentia”, we arrive in Piazza della Signoria, political center but also an open air museum: here you can admire Palazzo Vecchio, the government palace, the elegant Loggia della Signoria and the outdoor statues by Cellini, Giambologna, Ammannati and others. Passing the Uffizi Courtyard, we continue our guided tour to the river Arno and Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge of the city, which is also famous thanks to its little goldsmith’shops.

The guided tour continues to the little Pig’s Market and, finally, the Religious Centre: Baptistery, Giotto’s Bell Tower and Duomo (Cathedral and Brunelleschi’s Dome).

The itinerary includes The Galleria dell’Accademia to see the world’s most famous sculpture: Michelangelo’s ‘David. The Accademia housesother Michelangelo’s works, as well as the Prisoners (Slaves), four powerful unfinished figures for the Pope Julius II’s tomb, and the Pietà from Palestrina.

The duration is about 3 hours. Entrance fees to museums are not included.

Advance booking is necessary to avoid long lines for the Accademia. Bookings will be made by me in your name with no extra charge.
